NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2025 season in convincing fashion, taking down Lynchburg 7-0 at the CoVA Tennis Center on Saturday evening.
 
Norfolk State (1-1) did not drop a single set, controlling the match from start to finish.
 
The Spartans swept the opening doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. 
Jakub Solarski and 
Deniz Okyay earned a 6-0 win at the No. 1 position to set the tone early, before 
Boris Lunin and Fredrick McRae won 6-1 on Court 2. 
Michele Elia and 
Luka Cvjetkovic picked up a 6-2 victory at the third position as the icing on the cake.
 
Okyay gave the Spartans a 2-0 advantage with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sabastian Soria on Court 2. McRae surged past Sebastian Sierra 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 slot as Norfolk State continued to engulf all of the momentum in the match.
 
Lunin finished his undefeated night with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Alex Rintoul on Court 4, clinching the match for the Spartans. Solarski closed things out at the top spot in the lineup shortly after, besting Luca Marbioli 6-2, 6-4.
 
Norfolk State did not need much time to wrap things up. Elia defeated Timothee DePaquit 6-3, 6-1 on Court 5, while Cvjetkovic comfortably defeated Christian Zepeda 6-2, 6-1 on Court 6.
 
The Spartans return to action in Philadelphia, Pa. to face Temple on Feb. 21, the first stop of a four-game road trip.
