Edmonds, McPherson Earn Weekly Accolades

NORFOLK, Va. - Two members of the Norfolk State softball team earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) recognitions Tuesday morning.

Sophomore infielder Qween Edmonds received the MEAC Player of the Week award and freshman pitcher Amaya McPherson was named MEAC Rookie of the Week.

Edmonds recorded three consecutive multi-hit performances, a .500 batting average across four games, three extra base hits on 12 at-bats during a 3-1 weekend for the Spartans.

The Radford transfer totaled six hits, three doubles, two RBIs, and two runs. She also recorded 11 putouts, 10 assists, with no errors.

McPherson garnered a win in her first collegiate outing in the circle for the Spartans against Saint Peter's on Saturday. She pitched 7.0 innings, allowing no earned runs, whilst striking out four batters. She also hit .667 in three at-bats on two hits, one run and one RBI.

The Spartans return to action on Friday against Mount St. Mary's (Md.) on the first day of the Spartans/Pirate Invitational.
