NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team blanked an opponent for the second consecutive day, defeating Shaw 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon at NSU Tennis Complex.

Playing their home opener, the Spartans (2-4) won two of the three doubles matches to take the opening point.
Jakub Solarski and
Frederick McRae cruised to a 6-1 win on Court 1, before Kristian Bilojelic and Franco Vedda took down
Boris Lunin and
Michele Elia 6-4 at the No. 2 position.
Deniz Okyay and
Igor Kubalka came up big on Court 3, besting Eduardo Valenca and Carlos Alcala 7-5.

The Spartans kept the momentum going in singles play, starting with a dominant 6-1, 6-4 victory from Okyay at the No. 2 position over Valenca. Playing the No. 3 slot, Kubalka beat Bilojelic 6-4, 6-4 to put the Spartans ahead 3-0.

After dropping the first set, Solarski clinched the match for the Spartans with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Edoardo Brustia at the top spot in the lineup. Taking the court shortly after, McRae made quick work in a 6-2, 6-0 win over Vedda on Court 5.

Lunin got in the win column with a 7-5, 6-2 result over Alcala at the No. 4 spot.
Luka Cvjetkovic put the closing touches on the afternoon for the Spartans, defeating Andres Ayala 6-2, 2-6, 10-3.

Norfolk State returns to action on Saturday, facing Chowan at 9 a.m. and North Carolina Central at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader at NSU Tennis Complex.
