Journette Hits Eighth Homer of 2025 Season in Loss to Stonehill

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State baseball team couldn't hold off a talented Stonehill lineup on Sunday afternoon, falling 23-8 in seven innings at Marty L. Miller Field.

The Spartans allowed a run in the opening inning, but sophomore outfielder Jalan Jones launched a solo home run to right field to counter the early deficit. Stonehill took a 5-1 lead in the second inning, before Collin Curry hit another solo home run shortly after.

Starting pitcher Walker Fuller settled down to toss a scoreless third inning, before the Skyhawks caught fire again in the fourth. Stonehill racked up seven hits and six walks in the frame to pour in seven runs.

A pair of RBIs from Cam Mazell and Terrence Rhodes helped the Spartans regroup, but Stonehill continued its offensive firepower. The Skyhawks added 11 more runs in the next two innings to take firm control of the game.

Norfolk State showed fight, scoring four runs in the sixth inning. Cam Mazell launched a two-run homer over the fence, before Journette added another just a few batters later.

Freshman Jack Welsch closed the game out for Wagner, pitching a scoreless seventh inning.
