NORFOLK, Va. - Junior second baseman Emory Shorts tallied one of the best performances of her collegiate career after posting three doubles in the 8-5 loss to Maryland Eastern Shore on Sunday.

Shorts eclipsed career-high in hits (3) and doubles (3), whilst tying her career high in RBIs (2) after doubling in the bottom of the second, sixth, and seventh innings.

Shorts' double in the bottom of the seventh brought in two runs as the Spartans tried mounting a comeback after being down 8-2. After the double, the score became 8-4.

The Spartans were only able to score one more run on a Kira Turner single, before falling 8-5 to UMES.

Turner and Shorts secured multi-hit games, with Turner finishing with two hits and an RBI. 

The Spartans travel to Baltimore, Md. to play Morgan State in a series from Apr. 12-13. The first game of the doubleheader begins at 1 p.m.
