Justin Journette received All-Northeast Conference (NEC) First Team honors on Wednesday afternoon, becoming the first Spartan to land on an All-Conference First Team since the baseball program joined the NEC ahead of the 2023 season.
Â
Journette matched his previous season's total by crushing 15 home runs this season, ranking second in the NEC in the category. The Richmond, Va. product racked up 55 hits on a career-best .331 batting average, including 22 extra-base hits.
Â
One of the most versatile batters in the conference, Journette accumulated 45 RBIs, 25 walks, and five stolen bases. He shattered the program's all-time career home run record, reaching 39 homers in just three years – passing the 36-year-old mark of 35 set by Mel Wearing in 1989.
Â
Journette logged a home run in four consecutive games from Feb. 28 to Mar. 2, adding a three-game homer streak during a weekend series against Stonehill in March. The right fielder shined defensively as well, recording 62 putouts and three assists.
Â
The recognition marked Journette's second all-conference accolade of his career, earning All-NEC Second Team honors in 2024.
