NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State softball standouts
Maddy Morris and
Peyton Moran earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) weekly honors after leading the Spartans to a 2-1 weekend against St. Peter's.
The MEAC named Morris Player of the Week and selected Moran as Rookie of the Week.
Morris dominated at the plate and in the circle. She hit 5-for-10 with four runs scored, three RBIs, two doubles and one home run during the series. She opened the weekend by going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. In the second game, Morris finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored. She closed the series with a 2-for-4 performance, adding one run and one RBI.
In the circle, Morris went 2-0 with a .50 ERA, allowing just one run over 14 innings. She threw two complete games, including a shutout with seven strikeouts.
Moran went 2-for-6 with one RBI, one run scored and one double. She delivered her strongest performance in the second game, recording a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Norfolk State returns to action next weekend at the NSU Softball Field for the Spartan Roundup. The Spartans will host North Dakota, Holy Cross and Fairleigh Dickinson.
