NSU Men’s Tennis Dominates Navy in 4-0 Shutout

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Norfolk State men's tennis team defeated the Navy Midshipmen 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in a road matchup at the USNA Tennis Courts.

Norfolk State grabbed the early momentum by claiming the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. Marcin Andrzejczak and Marcin Dójczynski earned a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles, while the tandem of Przemek Nikolajuk and Szymon Janzen followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles to clinch the point for Norfolk State.

In singles play, the Spartans continued their strong performance, particularly in the bottom half of the lineup where they dominated the courts to seal the match.

Dominik Simunovic got things started with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles to extend the Spartan lead. Szymon Janzen followed with a dominant performance of his own at No. 4 singles, defeating his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Marcin Dójczynski completed the sweep of the lower courts with another commanding 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, giving Norfolk State the fourth and deciding point to secure the 4-0 team victory.

At the top of the lineup, Marcin Andrzejczak and Szymon Malecki were also in strong position before their matches went unfinished. Andrzejczak captured the opening set at No. 2 singles, while Malecki held the first-set advantage at No. 3.

The win marked an impressive road performance for Norfolk State, highlighted by dominant singles play and strong doubles execution to set the tone early against the Midshipmen.
