Biography

2007 (Junior Season)
Selected to the All-MEAC second team…played and started in 47 games, batting .284 (fifth on the team)…was third on the team in stolen bases (10) and was caught stealing just once…led the team in assists with a school single-season record 133…also led the Spartans in total sacrifices (16)…was second among MEAC shortstops in fielding percentage (.943)…was second on the team with 40 runs scored…had 15 multi-hit games…was 3-for-5 with a two-run triple against Villanova…went 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI against Binghamton (3-3-07)… had a 10-game hitting streak from March 10-April 1…had an RBI double against Virginia Commonwealth, going 2-for-5 (3-15-07)…went 5-for-8 with three runs scored in a doubleheader against Coppin State (3-31-07)…had a solo homer, his only home run of the season, to help NSU sweep the three-game series against Coppin State (4-1-07)…matched his career high with four hits against Delaware State and also stole three bases (4-22-07)….was 6-for-17 with five runs scored in the four MEAC Tournament games… named to the MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team.

2006 (Sophomore Season)
Only Spartan to play and start in all 51 games…selected to the All-MEAC first team…also was a 2006 Black College Baseball Elite Team honoree…had the third-highest batting average on the team and ranked seventh in the MEAC (.344)…led the team or tied for the team lead in RBI (38), hits (64), stolen bases (18), attempted steals (23), and at-bats (186)…had 20 multi-hit games…recorded three home runs for the season…was third in MEAC in stolen bases (9-for-10) in conference games and tied for fourth in stolen bases in all games…ranked eighth in the MEAC in RBI per game…had a three-run home run, the first of his career, against West Virginia (3-15-06)…went 2-for-3 with three RBI and a triple against Radford (3-16-06)…hit his second home run of the season against North Carolina A&T (3-25-06)…had two triples against Coppin State (4-1-06)…had a season-high three hits, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs scored, four RBI and a home run at William & Mary (4-27-06) …named to the MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team…had a short stint with the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League during the summer…batted .318 in nine games for Edenton.

2005 (Freshman Season)
Batted .243 in 44 games, 41 of which he started…started in all 17 conference games…scored 15 runs…led the team with 16 stolen bases and was tied for second in RBI (16)…recorded eight multi-hit games…hit the team’s only triple of the season, against Savannah State (2-6-05)…had a two-run single to lead NSU to its first win of the season, over Iona (3-4-05)…had a career-high four stolen bases against North Carolina A&T (3-24-05)…had the first four-hit game of his career against Delaware State, going 4-for-4 (4-10-05).

Attended Morgan State, which does not have a baseball team, during the 2003-04 school year.

High School
Lettered three years in baseball, two in football and one in track at Charlotte Amalie…was named the school’s Athlete of the Year as a senior…led the team in batters struck out as a sophomore.

Moriba H. George…son of Ashley George and Marcia Roebuck…born March 19, 1985…earned his bachelor’s degree in electronic technology in 2007.
