Biography
2014 (Junior): Appeared in 27 games and started once … one of the team’s top defensive outfielders, Bruno had 20 at-bats, scored four runs and knocked in four during the year … started the season-opener at Furman, knocking in one run … also went 1-for-1 off the bench with an RBI and a run scored the following day against Toledo … went 1-for-2 with two RBI in the finale of a three-game set at UMES in April … scored a run and went 1-for-1 off the bench against UMES in the May series with the Hawks.
2013 (Sophomore): Started 27 games and played in 36 … all 27 starts came in center field … batted .202 with 18 runs scored and seven runs driven in … drew 19 walks and had an on-base percentage of .342 … led the Spartans with nine stolen bases and was caught just twice … had five outfield assists, tied with Cameron Day for most on the team … had an RBI double and stole a base in the first game with Rider … scored two runs in the second games with both Rider and Fairleigh Dickinson … stole two bases in the first game with Savannah State at the Tigers’ home tournament … matched his career-high with three hits in a 3-for-4 outing against Wagner … drove in two runs in the loss at VMI … tallied a 4-for-12 three-game series with UMES, including a 2-for-5 effort with two runs scored in the series finale in late March … went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the first game of the April doubleheader with UMES.
2012 (Freshman): Appeared in 39 games and started 34 times … served as the team’s lead-off man for much of the season … batted .240 with three doubles, one triple and 14 runs batted in … stole six bases in seven attempts and did not commit an error in 66 chances in the outfield … a two-time MEAC Rookie of the Week selection … had his first career two-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in the Villanova series finale … went 2-for-4 with a career-high three RBI against UMES in mid-April … that kick-started a season-long 10-game hitting streak … earned his first MEAC Rookie of the Week honor on April 24 after going a combined 7-for-16 (.438) with four runs scored and three RBI in four games against ODU and Coppin State … was 5-for-13 with two doubles and three runs scored in that Coppin State series … hit a two-run triple in the win over N.C. Central … doubled and drove in two runs in the Virginia State victory … also earned MEAC Rookie of the Week accolades for May 1 after going 5-for-16 (.313) in four games vs. NCCU, William & Mary and VSU the week prior … had a career-high three hits in five at-bats in the first game of the final Coppin State series …went 7-for-18 (.389) in that series … scored two runs and went 1-for-3 in the MEAC Tournament win over North Carolina A&T.
High School: Lettered four years at Mountain View … was a first-team all-district pick as a junior and senior … earned second-team all-district honors as a sophomore, when MVHS won the district title … also participated on the swimming team as a junior.
