Biography

2015 (Junior): Named the 2015 MEAC Pitcher of the Year and was also voted to the All-MEAC first team … Became NSU’s first MEAC Pitcher of the Year since coach Claudell Clark achieved the feat in 2000 … Also earned a spot on the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-East Region second team and on the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State second team … Finished the season with an 8-2 record, 3.12 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 75 innings pitched … Pitched one complete-game shutout and was the starter in three other shutout wins for NSU … Ranked 39th in the nation (second in the MEAC) in strikeouts per nine innings, at 10.20 … Also finished 63rd nationally in wins, 97th in total strikeouts and 119th in hits allowed per nine innings (7.32) … Led the MEAC in wins and strikeouts … Was a three-time MEAC Pitcher of the Week winner … Earned the win in the season-opener with N.C. Central, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits in six innings … Fanned seven in five innings of a no-decision vs. IPFW … Tossed a scoreless inning of relief nine days later at Longwood … Took one of his two losses on the year at Delaware State in mid-March, allowing 10 runs in four innings … Following that set-back, Outman allowed just four earned runs in his next four starts and just 14 the rest of the year … Earned wins in five straight starts following the DSU loss … Fanned nine in six innings, allowing one run and three hits at UMES to earn his first MEAC Pitcher of the Week award … Struck out eight and gave up four runs (three earned) in six innings vs. Coppin State … Threw a three-hit shutout in his next start vs. Delaware State, striking out a career-high 11 batters over seven innings in a 21-0 win … That performance earned him another MEAC Pitcher of the Week award … Went 7.2 scoreless frames the following week, striking out five, in a win vs. UMES … Allowed three runs over five innings but won his fifth straight games in mid-April against Coppin State … Had his victories streak snapped in late April at UMES despite allowing just two runs and striking out nine in 7.2 innings of work … Had two scoreless starts to end the regular season in April, picking up wins in both … Pitched six innings and allowed just two hits with nine punch-outs against Coppin State … pitched seven scoreless innings in a win over Jackson State in the final regular season series, garnering his third MEAC Pitcher of the Week accolade … Allowed five earned runs in 6.2 innings of a no-decision in the MEAC Tournament against DSU … Member of the NSU AD’s Honor Roll for the fall semester … Also named to the MEAC All-Academic Team for the second straight year … Pitched for the Peninsula Pilots of the Coastal Plain League for the second straight summer … Went 3-2 with a 2.72 ERA, striking out 32 in 43 innings pitched … Voted to play in the CPL All-Star Game … Also played for the CPL Select team and earned a win over the Team USA collegiate squad.

2014 (Sophomore): Emerged as NSU’s ace in his first year after transferring … Went 8-2 with a 2.96 ERA … Pitched a team-high 76 innings and started 14 times (also tops on the team) in 15 appearances … Ranked tied for second in the MEAC in wins, sixth in ERA and seventh in strikeouts (55) … Also pitched four complete games … Went four innings in each of his first two starts at NSU, no-decisions against Xavier and Quinnipiac … Struck out five hitters and allowed just one hit in 5.1 innings to earn his first win in game two of the Savannah State series … Pitched four scoreless frames to help NSU win game two of the first series with Delaware State … improved to 3-1 on the year with six innings of one-run baseball in late March against Coppin State … Fanned six and allowed just two unearned runs over a seven-inning complete game to win game two of the second series with UMES … Came back the next week to strike out eight hitters, a season high, over seven innings of a complete-game victory over Coppin State … Allowed one run or less in his final four appearances of the year … Started that string with one earned run over a seven-inning complete game to beat UMES in early May for his sixth win of the year … made his only relief appearance of the year against Apprentice, allowing one run in two innings … Had a dominant MEAC Tournament, picking up two wins and pitching 14.1 innings … Started off the tournament with a win over NCCU where he allowed one run in 5.1 innings and struck out six … Four days later, Outman pitched his first career nine-inning complete game, an eight-hit shutout win over Savannah State … matched his season high with eight strikeouts in that victory … Named to the MEAC All-Academic Team and earned a spot on the NSU AD’s Honor Roll for the fall semester.

At Lynchburg: Went 2-2 in 11 games, including five starts, as a freshman at Lynchburg College in 2012 … Pitched 34.2 innings with a 5.45 ERA and 20 strikeouts.

High School: Played two years on the varsity squad at Grassfield … Went 6-1 with a 1.89 ERA as a senior … Threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts against Oscar Smith as a senior … Logged a 2-0 record as a junior.
