Biography

2007-08 (Sophomore Season)
Named the men’s track team Rookie of the Year…a provisional NCAA Indoor Championship qualifier in the 60 meters, long jump and triple jump…ran the MEAC’s fastest time in the 60 in his first meet as a Spartan, clocking 6.69 seconds at George Mason…won the long jump and the triple jump at the MEAC Indoor Championship…tied the conference indoor meet record with a jump of 24-7 ¾ to surpass the NCAA provisional standard…leapt 50-8 to win the triple jump…placed third in the 60 meters (6.89) at the conference meet…qualified for the regionals in the long jump and as part of the 4x100 relay team during outdoor season… placed second to teammate Marlon Woods in the long jump at Wake Forest (25-3 ¼)…set a new MEAC Outdoor Championship record in the long jump with a personal-best 26-0 ¼, but finished second again to Woods…helped the Spartans 4x100 relay team run a time of 40.21 in the prelims to reach the regional qualifying standard.

2006-07 (Freshman Season)
Sat out the season as a non-qualifier.

High School
Three-year letterwinner in track…also played on year of basketball and one of football…a Track & Field News All-American and member of the All-USA High School Track Team as named by USA Today as a senior in 2006…named the Daily Press Male Track Athlete of the Year…won six events, believed to be an event record, at the 2006 Peninsula District outdoor track meet… registered top times of 10.64 in the 100, 21.08 in the 200, 37.97 in the 300 hurdles during his high school career…posted top distances of 6-8 in the high jump, 25 feet in the long jump and 49-3 in the triple jump…the time of 21.08 is the third-fastest in Peninsula-area preps history…his jump of 25 feet in the long jump is the second-best in Peninsula high school history…won the VHSL state indoor and outdoor long jump titles as a senior.

Corey Lee Vinston was won on November 17, 1987…son of G. Vinston…majoring in journalism…brother, Brent Vinson, plays football at the University of Tennessee.
