2009-10: Indoor: Earned a third-place finish in the shot put at the George Mason Father Diamond Invitational (47-1.75)…placed fourth at Maryland (50-7.5)…posted a season-best throw of 51-7.25 to take ninth overall at Virginia Tech…finished fourth at the MEAC Indoor Championship (49-8.75). Outdoor: MEAC Outdoor shot put champion with a season-best throw of 52-2.5…was 11th in the college section at the Penn Relays (50-11)…placed seventh at Wake Forest (49-11.25).
2008-09: Sat out the season as a non-qualifier.
High School: Lettered three years in track…won the indoor and outdoor state shot put championships his junior and senior seasons, a total of four straight state titles…personal-best in high school was 61 feet, 11.5 inches…also has a PR of 157-2 in the discus.
Personal: Earnest Freddrick Spellman was born on Oct. 7, 1990…son of Freddie and Sharon Spellman…goes by Frede…majoring in kinesiotherapy.
