                NORFOLK, Va. - Despite the loss, NSU enjoyed another fine baseball season. Some of the highlights:
Brad Stephenson led NSU with a .409 average in the MEAC Tournament. He doubled twice, hit one home run, drove in four runs, and tallied a team-high nine hits
Chris Joyce batted .381 with a team-high seven RBI over the six games
Moriba George batted .333 with two RBI and several sterling plays at shortstop
Jerrod Farley hit .286 with a triple, a home run and four RBI
Brad Stephenson finished the season as NSU’s leader in average, .364, and in doubles, with 14
John Boyd led NSU with six home runs and belted 14 in his three years
Joyce finished his rookie campaign with a .318 average, 12 doubles and 44 RBI, second-most on the team
Joey Seal caps his NSU career as the school’s all-time leader in strikeouts (269), appearances (78), and innings pitched (334)
Leon Schabacker set the school’s new single-season record with seven complete games and tied the record with three shutouts
In just two seasons, Schabacker tied the NSU career record with five shutouts
George ends his four-year career as the school’s leader in games played (189) and at-bats (674)
Boyd drove in 46 runs in 2008, the most for a Spartan since current NSU assistant coach Quentin Jones knocked in 55 in 2000
NSU has won 73 games the past three seasons
This was NSU's fourth MEAC Baseball Tournament championship appearance. The Spartans also finished as runners-up in 1998, 2001 and 2005
The 2007-08 school year also marks the first time in the school’s Division I era (since 1997-98) that the Spartans’ football, men’s basketball and baseball teams all finished with winning overall records.
