Community College: Batted .300 in 15 games played as a sophomore at Monroe CC (Rochester, N.Y.) … had two doubles and one triple among his nine hits … played his freshman season at  Mohawk Valley CC in Utica, N.Y. … started 35 of 36 games that season, batting .284 with nine RBI and 11 runs scored.
 
High School: A three-year letterwinner in both baseball and basketball at Chittenango … was an all-conference infielder his senior season and earned honorable mention his junior year.
