Tom McManus is in his first season on the Norfolk State coaching staff serving as the defensive coordinator working with the infielders, catchers and team defense.
McManus comes to NSU from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) in Catonsville, Maryland, where he served as the Director of Baseball Operations. At UMBC, he handled the day-to-day operations, travel coordination, oversaw the implementation of Synergy Baseball, and assisted in player development and the creation of scouting and analytics reports.
Prior to UMBC, McManus served as a Director of Baseball Operations for the National Club Baseball Association in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has had previous coaching stops with the Eastern Shore Force, Triple Crown Training and the Evoshield Canes.
Coach McManus is originally from Eldersburg, Maryland. He graduated from Salisbury University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in geography with a concentration in atmospheric science and is also currently working toward obtaining his master’s degree in coaching education and athlete development from Xavier University.
