2021 (Senior): All-MEAC first-team selection … Hit .276 with nine doubles, one triple, five homers and 24 RBIs … Stole eight bases … Started in 50 of the 52 games in which he played … Ranked eighth in the MEAC with 74 total bases and tied for sixth with 28 walks … Had 14 games with two hits, including three in a row against Longwood in March … Hit a three-run homer in a win at N.C. Central on Feb. 27 … Hit a home run in back-to-back games at Coppin State on March 27 and another at Richmond three days later … Hit a solo homer and was 2-for-5 in the MEAC Tournament win against Florida A&M … Also was 2-for-4 in the NCAA Regional game at East Carolina.

2020 (Junior): Played and started in all 16 games, seeing time at left field (10 starts), DH (four) and first base (two) … Batted .302, second-best on the team, with two doubles, one home run and six runs batted in … Had a season-best three hits (3-for-4) with one RBI in the opener against Wagner … Had at least one hit in 13 games, including five multi-hit games … Had consecutive two-hit games in the second and third games of the Morehead State series … Went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the first game at Eastern Kentucky … Finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the win at Old Dominion … Named to the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for both semesters and was selected to the MEAC All-Academic Team.

2019 (Redshirt): Redshirted due to injury … Named to the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for both semesters.

Community College (Freshman/Sophomore): Played two seasons at Bryant & Stratton College in Virginia Beach … As a sophomore, batted .281 with 15 doubles, one home run, 27 RBI and nine stolen bases … As a freshman, Velasquez hit .380 with three homers, 42 RBI and 31 runs scored in 37 games … Was a Dean’s List student both years at Bryant & Stratton.

High School: Played four years of baseball and three of football at Robinson Secondary School … As a senior, was a second-team all-district designated hitter in baseball and tight end in football … Also made the all-district second team in both sports his junior year.

Personal: Mason Rourke Velasquez was born on Sept. 26, 1998 … Son of Jorge and Tammy Velasquez … Majoring in business entrepreneurship … Older brother played football at William & Mary … Another older brother, Garrett, played baseball at Louisiana College.
