Biography

2021 (Junior): Played in 20 games and started 11 times … Had four hits in 33 at-bats and drove in five runs … Stole six bases, half coming in a loss at NCCU on March 7 … Went 1-for-3 with a two-run double at FAMU on April 10 … Also drive in two runs at FAMU in a game the following day.

2020 (Sophomore): Started three times in four games played … Started games at shortstop, third base and center field … Had two hits in 10 at-bats on the year … Went 1-for-3 with a run scored against Morehead State … Also finished 1-for-3 at Eastern Kentucky … Named to the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for the spring semester.

2019 (Freshman): Played in 19 games and started eight times in the infield as a freshman … Started six times at short and once each at second and third bases … Hit .300 in 30 at-bats with five runs batted in and seven runs scored … Was 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and three stolen bases in a loss to Coppin State in late March … Hit run-scoring doubles in back-to-back games against Delaware State and Maryland Eastern Shore late in the season … Was 2-for-2 with a run scored in that win at MDES … Hit a run-scoring triple in a loss to N.C. Central to close the year … Also made one pitching appearance during the season, pitching a third of an inning at William & Mary in late March … Named to the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for both semesters.

High School: Was a three-year letterwinner at Granby, where he teamed with fellow NSU teammates Ty Hanchey and James Deloatch … Batted .433 and earned second-team all-region honors as a senior … Hit .325 as a junior.

Personal: Trent Ryan Hanchey was born on Dec. 19, 1999 … Son of Calvin and Tina Hanchey … Majoring in sociology ... Twin brother Ty is also on the team, and older brother Trey played from 2018-19.
