2014 (Junior): Appeared in 10 games on the year with one start and nine relief appearances … pitching 11.1 innings and tallied a record of 1-1 … had five scoreless relief appearances, including a season-high 1.2 innings of work in the game with Xavier at the Furman First Pitch Invitational … also pitched a scoreless inning against Canisius and one against Delaware State in the early-April series … earned the win with a scoreless inning of work at William & Mary … pitched a season-high three innings in his only start of the year, at VCU … named to the MEAC All-Academic Team ... earned a spot on the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for the fall semester.

2013 (Sophomore): Made 24 appearances for NSU, all out of the bullpen … finished the year with a 2-4 record and a 3.96 ERA … had two saves … opponents hit just .257 off Applin, second-lowest on NSU’s pitching staff and the lowest mark for an NSU reliever … pitched a season-high three scoreless innings with one hit allowed and two strikeouts in the first game of the Rider series … fanned a season-high four hitters spanning 2.2 scoreless innings in the loss to Fairleigh Dickinson at the Savannah State tournament … earned his first win as a Spartan in his sixth outing of the year, against Wagner … pitched a scoreless ninth with one strikeout to pick up the victory… also recorded a save in the series finale against Wagner, pitching two scoreless frames to help the Spartans win the series … matched his season-high with three scoreless innings in the second game of the first series with DSU … notched his second save of the year against Coppin State in the nightcap of the teams’ first doubleheader of the year … pitched three innings and worked around giving up three runs to pick up his second win of the year in last meeting with Delaware State … struck out two in two scoreless innings of the MEAC Tournament game with Savannah State … member of the NSU Athletics Directors’ Honor Roll for both 2012-13 semesters.

At RCC (Freshman): Appeared in 17 games as a true freshman … went 1-0 with a 3.65 ERA … allowed just five hits in his 12.1 innings of work.

High School: Lettered four years in baseball and two in football … was a starting pitcher for the Tigers’ baseball team and also played defensive back for the football team.

Personal: Troy Christopher Applin was born on Oct. 25, 1992 … son of Michael Applin … majoring in building construction technology.
