2021 (Junior): MEAC All-Tournament Team selection … Also named to the Black College Nines HBCU Baseball Elite first team … Caught and also played outfield for NSU … Hit .271 with eight doubles, two triples, five homers, 30 RBIs and 13 stolen bases … Ranked fifth in the MEAC in stolen bases … Hit a three-run homer among his two hits at Coppin State on March 27 … Also hit a two-run shot at Richmond three days later … Hit a three-run homer in a win at FAMU on April 11 … Hit his fourth homer of the year, a two-run blast, at DSU on April 23 … Smacked another three-run blast against FAMU in a televised game victory on April 30 … Had two four-hit games, a new career high, in tournament wins over FAMU and NCCU … Went 4-for-5 with two RBIs in those two contests with a pair of doubles … Hit the tying RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning in the championship win over NCCU, extending the game to the 11th inning … Went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs against ECU at the NCAA Greenville Regional.

2020 (Sophomore): Started all 15 games in which he played … Started games at catcher (10), center field (three) and right field (two) … Ranked fifth in the MEAC with a .368 batting average and was also fifth with a .455 on-bae percentage … Led NSU with 21 hits (third in the MEAC) and had seven multi-hit games … Also logged two doubles, eight RBIs and three stolen bases … Had two hits and two runs batted in during each of the last two games against Wagner … Posted three hits, matching a career high, in back-to-back games against VCU (3-for-3) and Morehead State (3-for-4) … Went 2-for-5 with a double, run scored and two RBIs against Eastern Kentucky … Named to the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for both semesters.

2019 (Freshman): Shared the starting catching duties in his first season at NSU … Started 29 games and played in 36 … Batted .235 with six doubles, two triples, a home run and 15 RBI … Walked 16 times and stole five bases … Amassed a .356 on-base percentage … Also threw out 14 attempted base stealers from behind the plate … Had three multi-hit games, all coming in April … Scored twice and was 1-for-2 against Delaware State in the first MEAC series of the year … Hit an RBI double in a loss at William & Mary … Drove in a career-high four runs and batted 2-for-4 in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore … Doubled and hit a three-run triple in that game … Also was 2-for-3 with a double in a win over Coppin State the following week … Notched a 3-for-4 performance, including a two-run double, in a win over North Carolina Central in late April to help him earn MEAC Rookie of the Week honors … Hit a two-run homer, the first home run of his career, in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore in the teams’ final series … Named to the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for the fall semester … Selected to play with the Bismarck Larks of the Northwoods League over the summer … Batted .357 with three home runs in just 12 games with the team.

High School: Three-year letterwinner at Granby, where he was teammates with twin brother Trent and fellow Spartan James Deloatch … Batted .429 with two home runs and earned first-team all-region honors as a senior … Was a second-team all-region pick as a junior, when he hit four home runs and batted .345.

Personal: Ty Allen Hanchey was born on Dec. 19, 1999 … Son of Calvin and Tina Hanchey … Majoring in sociology … Twin brother Trent is also on the team … Older brother Trey played at NSU from 2018-19.
