Brittany Pilkington Baine enters her first season as the head coach of the Norfolk State tennis teams, and her fourth season overall as a member of the NSU tennis coaching staff. Baine brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach, to NSU.

Last season, the Spartan men’s team reached the MEAC Tournament for a third straight time under Baine's tenure as assistant coach.

Norfolk State’s women’s team reached their third-straight conference tournament berth under Baine, claiming first place in the MEAC’s Northern Division. Naz Karagoz became the program’s first MEAC Player of the Year and earned first team all-conference honors after going 9-1 overall, 5-0 in the conference, while playing exclusively at No. 1 singles.

The Spartan men secured their second-straight MEAC Tournament berth in 2018 after finishing second in the Northern Division. NSU dispatched Bethune-Cookman 4-1 in the quarterfinals for its second postseason victory in as many seasons.

Andres Alcaraz earned first team All-MEAC honors in 2018 after going 10-2 in singles play without dropping a match in Northern Division action.

Norfolk State’s women’s team made the conference tournament for the second year in a row after going .500 and finishing fourth in the Northern Division in 2018. Dajana Cvjetkovic earned All-MEAC honors for the second-consecutive season, receiving first team recognition.

Norfolk State’s men’s team finished second in the MEAC Northern Division in 2017 before recording its first MEAC Tournament victory since 2014.

The Spartan women finished in a tie for second in the MEAC Northern Division and went undefeated at home for the first time since 2008. Baine helped guide Dajana Cvjetkovic to second-team All-MEAC honors in 2017.

Prior to Norfolk State, Baine was the head coach of the Cape Henry Collegiate High School girl’s tennis team during the 2016 fall season. She led the Dolphins to the Virginia Division II private school state finals and her No. 1 player was named D-II private school state player of the year.

Baine was a four-year letterwinner at George Mason and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management. She won 38 singles matches during her playing career from 2012-2016. Pilkington was an All-Atlantic-10 second-team selection as a senior in 2015-16 and was also named to the Fall 2015 A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Baine was a four-year letterwinner at Cape Henry Collegiate from 2007-2011, where she won two state championships and was a two-time state player of the year in 2009 and 2011.
