2012-13: Indoor: Ran a season-best 60m time of 6.92 in the prelims at the Penn State Relays … placed fourth in the finals at PSU in 6.94 seconds … was second to teammate James Taylor in the 200m dash at Penn State in a season-best time of 21.50 seconds … took fourth place at the MEAC Indoor Championship in the 200m with a time of 21.89 … also took seventh at the conference meet in the 400 meters (49.97) and ran the first leg on the Spartans’ first-place 4x400 relay team … helped the 4x400 relay record its best time of the year at the Hokie Invitational (3:12.25), where the Spartans took second place. Outdoor: NCAA East Preliminary Round qualifier in the 400 meters and with the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams … ran a time of 47.28 seconds to take third in the 400 meters at the NSU Relays, qualifying him for the East preliminary round … ran a prelim time of 47.76 in the 400 at the MEAC outdoor meet, and was fifth in the finals in a time of 48.13 … ran a PR of 46.78 seconds at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, placing 25th out of 48 runners … ran the first leg on NSU’s first-place 4x100 relay team (40.81) at the conference championship … helped the 4x100 team post a time of 40.48 seconds, fifth-fastest in the prelims of the Penn Relays and good enough to qualify for the Championship of America finals (where NSU was DQ’ed) … Smith and his 4x100 teammates posted a season-best time of 40.32 seconds at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, good for 19th in the region … Smith also ran a season-best 200m time of 21.14 seconds in the prelims of the MEAC Outdoor Championship, but did not finish in the finals due to injury.

High School: Two-year letterwinner in track and field … was a three-time Beach District indoor champion as a senior, winning gold in the 55 and 300 meters and with the 4x400 relay team … placed third at the state Group AAA indoor meet in the 300 meters as a senior … during outdoor season, was Beach District runner-up in the 100 and 200 meters and long jump … placed third in the 100 and second in the 200 (21.88 seconds) at the Eastern Region outdoor meet … ran PRs of 10.91 in the 100 and 21.69 in the 200 as a senior … was all-state in the 55 and 200 as a junior …was a second-team all-district receiver and kick returner as a senior for the GRHS football team.
