2020-21: MEAC All-Academic Team member. Indoor: Competed in two indoor meets … Won the 400 meters in 47.56 at the Gamecock Opener … Broke his own school record in the 500 meters with a time of 1:02.82 at the Liberty Elite invitational, good for second place. Outdoor: Competed on both the winning 4x100 relay team and also won the open 200 meters (21.17) to kick off outdoor season at Coastal Carolina … Notched third-place finishes in the 400 at the Gamecock Invitational (47.01) and Virginia Grand Prix (46.54) … Placed third in the MEAC in the 400 (46.33), sixth in the 200 (20.92) and fourth in the 4x400 relay (3:14.79) … Again qualified for the NCAA East Prelims in the quarter-mile … Advanced to the second round, where he clocked a PR of 46.11, good for 13th at the meet – one position away from qualifying for nationals … Also competed with the 4x100 relay team that competed at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing 21st as a team to earn honorable mention All-America honors.

2019-20: Named to the NSU AD Honor Roll for both semesters and was a MEAC All-Academic Team member. Indoor: Opened the season by competing in a pair of meets in the 500 meters … Won the event at George Mason in 1:04.68, then set a school record with a runner-up finish in 1:03.22 the following week at the Albany Great Dane Classic … Placed third in the 200m at the VMI Team Challenge (21.74) … Took fourth place (47.62) and second (47.84) in back-to-back weeks competing in the 400 meters at Penn State and Liberty, respectively … At the MEAC Indoor Championships, placed seventh in the 400m (48.17) while helping the DMR take second and 4x400 relay place third. Outdoor: Season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2018-19: Member of the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for both semesters … Also a member of the MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team … Named team’s Most Improved Athlete for the 2018-19 season. Indoor: Blossomed into a second-team indoor All-American in the 400 meters in his second season as a Spartan … Earned first-place finishes during the regular season in the 200 meters at the Liberty Flames Invitational (21.38) and in the 400 meters at the JDL DMR Invitational (47.33) … Clocked an indoor PR and school-record time of 46.17 seconds in a runner-up finish in the 400m at Penn State … That time ended up qualifying him for the NCAA Indoor Championships and also won him MEAC Track Athlete of the Week … At the MEAC Indoor Championships, Barnes placed third in the 400m (47.33) and fifth in the 200m (21.75) and also ran a leg on NSU’s third-place 4x400 relay team … Finished 10th at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 47.11. Outdoor: Ran a leg on NSU’s winning sprint medley relay team at the Colonial Relays … Won the 200 meters at the CNU Captains Classic (21.37) and was second in the same event at the Charlotte Invitational (21.80) … Took runner-up in the 400m dash at the Virginia Grand Prix (47.07) … Had a strong showing at the MEAC Outdoor Championship, registering PRs in both the 200m and 400m ... Placed fourth in the 400m in 46.15, and also clocked a 21.23 in the prelims of the 200 … Ran a leg on the fourth-place 4x400 relay and sixth-place 4x100 relay … Advanced to the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the 400 meters for the second straight season … Posted times of 46.63 in the first round and 46.66 in the second.
 
2017-18: Member of the NSU Athletics Director’s Honor Roll for both semesters. Indoor: An impact sprinter in his first year at NSU … MEAC indoor champion in the 400 meters … Also scored in the 200 meters at the conference meet … Won the 200 meters at the Darius Dixon Invitational (21.71) and was third at the VMI Winter Relays (21.67) … Also won the 500 meters at VMI in a season-best 1:03.52 … In the 400 meters, registered a runner-up finish at the Keydet Invitational (48.00) and a third-place finish at the Penn State National (47.57, season-best) … Also helped the 4x400 relay place second at Penn State and fourth at the conference meet. Outdoor: Helped Spartan relay teams earn three first-place finishes in the first three meets of outdoor season … Ran on the winning 4x300 relay at the Weems Baskin Invitational, the winning 4x400 team at the Fred Hardy Invitational, and the victorious 4x200 relay at the Colonial Relays … Individually, Barnes took a second-place finish in the 200 at the Fred Hardy Invitational (21.79) and VSU Trojan Invitational (21.55) … In the 400 meters, Barnes won at the U.Va. Grand Prix in a personal-best time of 46.15 seconds, earning MEAC Co-Athlete of the Week honors … Also was second in the 400 at the Colonial Relays (46.99) … Qualified for the MEAC Outdoor Championships in both the 200 and 400 … PRed in the 200 at the MEAC meet (21.33), placing 14th overall … Was fifth at the conference championship in the 400, in a finals time of 46.81 … Qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the quarter-mile, placing 27th out of 48 in 46.81 seconds.
 
High School: Lettered four years in track and three in football … Was team captain and MVP as a senior, when he was the state 4A runner-up in the 300 meters (indoor) and 400 meters (outdoor) … Is the school record holder in the 200 (21.54), 300 (34.44) and 400 (48.04) meter events … Helped Parkland win the state title in the 4x200 relay both indoors and outdoors as a senior … The 4x200 relay team also qualified for the New Balance Indoor Nationals that year … Outdoor regional champ in both the 200 and 400 meters … Also ran a PR of 10.76 seconds in the 100m as a senior … Was a state qualifier in both the 4x200 and 4x400 relays and the 300 hurdles as a junior … Played receiver and safety on the Parkland football team … was an Honor Roll student.
