2008 (Junior Year)
Brown was NSU’s go-to pitcher in 2008 and earned a number of accolades in recognition of her performances…was named the Spartans’ Most Valuable Player and earned MEAC Pitcher of the Week honors on April 21 after going 1-1 in 10.0 innings and throwing a six-inning complete game…made the MEAC All-Tournament team after going 3-2 in 37.1 innings with six appearances and four complete games in the tournament…started all six tournament games and had a 2.44 ERA in those games…also named to the MEAC All-Academic Team for her accomplishments in the classroom…went 10-9 on the season with a 3.07 ERA…made 32 appearances with 10 complete games in 127.2 innings…allowed 154 hits, 80 runs (56 earned), walked 33 and struck out 59…opponents hit .290 against her…at the plate, Brown hit .219 with seven hits in 32 at-bats…scored five runs, batted in three and hit one double for the season…played in the outfield when she was not pitching…struck out a season-high six batters on three occasions…led the pitching staff in ERA, wins and appearances…pitched a season-high 10 innings, allowing nine hits, two runs (one earned) and striking out six in the 9-8 MEAC Tournament win over Morgan State (5-9-08)…had a season-high two hits against St. Francis (3-9-08)…went 2-for-4 with an RBI and three putouts in that game…hit her only double of the season against Qunnipiac (2-24-08)…had eight games where she struck out three or more batters…earned her first win of the season against Maryland Eastern Shore (4-2-08)…gave up four hits and one earned run in five innings while striking out six in that 9-1 win.
2007 (Sophomore Year)
Played in 38 games and made 27 appearances with eight starts in the pitching circle…had a 3.53 ERA and a .217 batting average…tallied a total of 10 hits, eight runs, and five RBI for the season…had a season-high two hits in three at-bats with a run and an RBI against Binghamton (3-9-07)…was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run against Delaware State in the MEAC Roundup (4-13-07)…went 1-for-3 and scored a run against Morgan State in the elimination game of the MEAC Tournament (5-11-07)…earned her first win of the season against the University of Delaware (3-11-07) when she gave up three hits, no runs, and struck out one batter in 3.1 innings…was named MEAC Pitcher of the week on April 9 after earning three of the Spartans four wins the week before…in the three games, she pitched 9.1 innings, with an ERA of 2.25 and allowed 16 hits and four runs without walking a batter…against North Carolina A&T (4-6-07), she faced 19 batters, struck out three, and only gave up six hits…led the pitching staff with 10 wins and two saves…ranked 98th in the nation in saves…pitched 11 innings with a 1.91 ERA to record wins against Delaware State (4-13-07) and UMES (4-15-07) and earned her first save of the season against Howard (4-15-07) at the MEAC Roundup…struck out 33 batters on the season…made 19 appearances in relief…tossed one complete game for the season.
2006 (Freshman Year)
One of the team’s most versatile players, Brown led the team in hitting (.339) and ERA (2.68)…saw extensive time on the pitching rubber and in right field…named the team’s Rookie of the Year…played in 51 games and started 46…started in 16 of her 18 pitching appearances…gave up 33 earned runs in 86.1 innings of work and posted a 6-11 record…ranked fifth in the MEAC in ERA…pitched 11 complete games…only walked nine batters for the season…had 10 games with at least two hits…gave up three hits and two unearned runs in seven innings against Howard (3-5-06) to earn her first win as a Spartan…allowed four runs (one earned) and 11 hits in a seven-inning complete game win over Brown in the Mason Dixon Tournament (3-10-06)…went a combined 4-for-7 in a doubleheader against Maryland-Eastern Shore (4-5-06)… hit .647 (11-for-17) with three RBI and scored four runs in six games at the MEAC Roundup (4-7-06 through 4-9-06)…had a career-high three hits in a game in two separate games of the roundup, against Hampton (4-7-06) and Morgan State (4-9-06)… was 1-1 and pitched 11 innings at the MEAC Roundup…struck out two and pitched a five-hit complete game in the 5-2 win over North Carolina A&T (4-11-06)… earned MEAC Pitcher of the Week honors after tossing her first career shutout, allowing just three hits while fanning three, in a five-inning, 14-0 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore (4-30-06)…pitched three complete games and went 1-2 with a 2.47 ERA the week before the earn the honor.
High School
Lettered four years in softball…played for her father, Ted Brown…named to the All-Ohio Division III first team as a sophomore and junior...was second-team all-state as a freshman and honorable mention as a senior…was a four-time All-Ohio Valley Athletic Conference and All-Eastern District selection…was district and conference player of the year as a as a sophomore and junior…walked just three batters her senior season…pitched a shutout in leading the team to the Division III state title her junior season, when she was 32-0 with a 0.62 ERA and 290 strikeouts on the rubber…pitched 18 shutouts and also batted .455 as a sophomore in leading the team to the regional championship game…pitched nine no-hitters and five perfect games in high school, compiling a 91-16 record and 900 strikeouts against just 49 walks…owns the state record for consecutive innings pitched without allowing a walk (76), which she set her sophomore season…batted .354 for her career.
