Tuli Iosefa Leads NSU Softball by Example

2021 (Senior Year): A first-team All-MEAC honoree at catcher … Earned a spot on the MEAC All-Tournament Team … Named MEAC Player of the Week on Feb. 23, March 9 and April 6 … Voted to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State First Team … Member of the AD’s Honor Roll both semesters … Played in all 39 games and made 37 starts, including 32 at catcher and five at DP … Led the team with a .330 average, eight home runs, 36 RBI, 66 total bases, 17 walks, a .641 slugging percentage and a .434 on-base percentage … Scored 19 runs with 34 hits, six doubles and a triple … Batted 22-for-58 (.379) with runners on base, including 18-of-42 (.429) with runners in scoring position … Led the MEAC in RBI (36) and sacrifice flies (4) and stood second in home runs (8) and slugging (.641), third in walks (17), total bases (66) and hit by pitch (5), fifth in on-base percentage (.434) and ninth in hitting (.330) … Ranked 31st in the nation in sacrifice flies (4), 78th in RBI per game (0.92) and No. 171 in slugging (.641) … Stood third in NSU Division I records for home runs (sixth in overall records), seventh in slugging and sacrifice flies, 10th in RBI and 15th in hit by pitch … Ended the season fifth all-time at NSU in career home runs (20), seventh in sacrifice flies (8) eighth in infield assists (229) and 11th in doubles (23) … Had eight multi-hit games on the year, tied for the most on the team, and a team-high 12 games with at least two RBI … Had a big series against Coppin State in a four-game sweep on April 2-3 … Hit a home run and went 2-for-2 with two runs and four RBI in game 2 on April 3 after hitting 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored and three RBI in game 1 … On April 2, hit 3-for-6 with two doubles and three RBI in the two wins … Walked four times in a game 1 win over Howard on March 20 … In two wins over Cleveland State on March 6, hit 1-for-2 with two runs in the first game, and 3-for-4, including a home run, with three runs and two RBI in the second … Hit a home run and drove in three runs in a game 1 victory against Youngstown State on Feb. 27 … Drove in a pair of runs in game 1 wins over Morehead State on Feb. 20 and 21 … Hit another home run with two RBI in a win over North Carolina Central on April 18 … In four games at Delaware State on April 23-24, combined to go 6-for-14 with two doubles, a home run, three runs and six RBI … Hit a home run and went 1-for-2 with three runs and two RBI in a MEAC Tournament win over North Carolina A&T on May 13 … The next day, hit another home run as part of a 2-for-3 game with two RBI against North Carolina Central.
 
2020 (Junior Year): Member of the AD’s Honor Roll both semesters … Competed in 18 games on the season and made 16 starts before it was shut down due to COVID-19 … Made nine starts at DP and seven at catcher … Had nine hits in 46 at bats with five runs, three doubles, one home run, five RBI and two walks … Ended the year 11th all-time at NSU in home runs with 12 … On Feb. 29, batted 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in a win over Morehead State … Later in the day, hit 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI against Marshall … Hit a home run and drove in three in a victory against South Carolina State on Feb. 9 … Went a combined 2-for-6 with an RBI and a walk on Feb. 28 in a doubleheader sweep of Fairleigh Dickinson.
 
2019 (Sophomore Year): Played in and started all 45 games, 44 of those at third base and one at DP … Earned the team’s Coaches Award … Named to the MEAC All-Academic Team … Hit .263 on the year and tied for the team lead with 10 doubles and eight home runs … Scored 19 runs with 36 hits, 27 RBI, 70 total bases, 15 walks, a .335 on-base percentage and a .511 slugging percentage … Tied for the MEAC lead in home runs and was third in infield assists (101) … Hit the sixth-most home runs in a season in NSU overall history, third in Division I history … Also ranked 11th in NSU D-I annals in doubles … Ended the season ranked 12th all-time at NSU in home runs (11) … Hit .270 (20-of-74) with runners on base … Had 10 multi-hit games on the year … Belted a solo home run with no outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Spartans a 1-0, walk-off victory over Howard on April 28 … That win in the last regular season game of the year gave the Spartans the MEAC Northern Division title … Batted 3-for-3 that game … Hit an RBI double in the top of the eighth to help NSU to a 7-6 win over Delaware on March 2 … Smacked two doubles that game and went 2-for-4 with a run and three RBI … Hit a pair of home runs and went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBI in a game 1 win over North Carolina A&T on March 15 … Belted a solo home run and went 2-for-3 in a 2-1 win over Hampton on April 10 … In a doubleheader at Morgan State on March 24, hit 2-for-6 with two runs, two walks, a double, a home run, and four RBI … Had two hits in three straight games on Feb. 24-25, including a double and a home run as part of a 2-for-3 game with three RBI in a win against Morehead State on Feb. 25 … Later that day, went 2-for-3 in a victory over St. Bonaventure … The day before, batted 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI against Central Connecticut State … Also went 2-for-4 with a solo homer against Delaware State on Feb. 15 … Batted 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a game 2 win over North Carolina Central on March 5, and 2-for-3 in the next game against Drexel on March 8 … Hit .375 (18-for-48) in those first 15 games of the season.
 
2018 (Freshman Year): Competed in 46 games and made 43 starts … Member of the AD’s Honor Roll in the spring … Totaled 39 starts at third base, two at catcher, one at first base and one at DP … Batted .213 in 127 at bats with 10 runs, 27 hits, four doubles, three home runs, 19 RBI and 15 walks … Ranked 12th in the MEAC in walks … Held a .315 slugging percentage and a .292 on-base percentage … Had six multi-hit games and five with two or more RBI … Hit her first collegiate home run on Feb. 18 in a win over South Carolina State, driving in three runs while hitting 1-for-3 … Had a double and home run as part of a 2-for-3 day with four RBI in game 2 at Howard on April 14 … Batted 2-for-5 with two runs scored the next day against the Bison … Batted 2-for-5 in a doubleheader at North Carolina A&T on March 7 with two walks and four RBI … Hit her second home run of the season in a win at Delaware State on March 25, batting 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored … Also had a pair of RBI while hitting 1-for-2 with a double in the season finale against Hampton on April 29 … Collected a double and an RBI while hitting 2-for-2 against Winthrop on March 10.
 
High School: Competed on the varsity softball team at Green Run High School all four years … Was named first-team All-Atlantic Conference her freshman, sophomore and senior years and second-team all-conference as a junior … Earned the Virginia Beach Sports Club’s Green Run Female Athlete of the Year Award as a senior … Team captain that season … Earned the team’s Coaches Award … Was an All-Academic Team member all four years … Team MVP as a sophomore in 2015 and Rookie of the Year as a freshman … Batted .442 as a junior with eight doubles, five home runs, 26 RBI and a .522 on-base percentage … Also hit .596 with 12 doubles and eight home runs as a sophomore, including a 5-for-5 game with eight RBI against Maury HS … Also competed on the track team as a senior, earning the Coaches Award for indoor track.
