Khrystin Armor begins her seventh year with the Norfolk State athletics department in 2021-22, and her fourth as the Assistant AD for internal operations, after spending her first three years as the athletics business manager. An NSU alum, Armor oversees the business office and the facilities department within athletics as well as any other internal needs for the department. She also supervises the volleyball program.
While serving as the athletics business manager, she was responsible for managing the day-to-day business operations as well as the development, management and oversight of the athletics budget. She also reviewed and approved all financial expenditures, analyzed revenue and expenses, implemented operating procedures in line with university, NCAA and conference policies, and created business practices to maintain fiscal integrity and internal controls. She oversaw the procurement of goods and services, contract negotiations, team travel and all financial aspects related to department operations.
Armor has also served as the cheerleading coach for the university since August 2016.
Prior to joining NSU, Armor relocated back to the Hampton Roads area as a corporate accountant for LoanCare, a ServiceLink company, from June 2015 through October 2018. There, she served as the corporate accounting liaison between financial planning and analysis, operations management and internal audit to support corporate level deliverables and audit reporting. She focused on unaudited financials, revenue recognition analysis on client contracts, as well as compiled, analyzed and prepared variance and cost saving plans.
From February 2014 through June 2015, Armor held the title of senior business analyst for the controller division at DTE Energy Corporate Services, LLC in Detroit. She was primarily responsible for providing accounting, financial analysis, budget and reporting support for various organizations within corporate support staff groups for nine business entities within the company.
Following her graduating from NSU, she worked for Geico from June 2011 through November 2013 as a supervisory manager in the auto insurance service department. Armor managed teams of 5-10 call center associates and monitored productivity and efficiency of customer service agents. Her team was ranked No. 2 of 34 teams in service performance metrics. She also holds her Property/Casualty (Operators) license in five states.
Armor graduated from Norfolk State in May 2011 with a bachelor's in accounting. She later received her masters in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Regent University in August 2018.
She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Director of Athletics (NACDA), Collegiate Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA), Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA), Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), Women Leaders in College Sports, the National Association for Black Accountants and the NSU Alumni Association.
Armor is the proud mother of a seven-year-old daughter, Kyleigh, affectionately known as Coach K2, and resides in Virginia Beach.
