NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State football coach Pete Adrian announced Monday the signing of junior-college quarterback Casey Hansen.
Hansen (6-5, 223) was a second-team All-Foothill Conference performer as a sophomore this past fall at Chaffey Junior College (Calif.). He completed 180 of 311 passes (58 percent) for 2,401 yards and 23 touchdowns. Hansen also set the school single-game passing yardage record with a 357-yard effort last season.
Hansen, a native of Corona, Calif., originally signed with Colorado State University, spending two years with the Rams. He redshirted the 2003 season and was on the roster in 2004. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Hansen graduated from Norco High School in Norco, Calif., where he threw for 2,608 yards and 21 touchdowns in three seasons.
“Casey moves well, has a strong arm and possesses good football knowledge,” Adrian said. “We’re extremely excited to have a quarterback of his caliber and size. It will really allow us to open up the field with our passing game.”
