NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State head softball coach Kary Kankey announced Wednesday the addition of catcher Rebecca Barnes (Hampton, Va./Albany (N.Y.)) to the 2007-08 team.

Barnes hit .140 with three RBI and a double in 22 games for Albany in 2007. A 2006 graduate of Phoebus High School in Hampton, Va., Barnes was a three-time All-Peninsula District pick. She was named to the second team as a sophomore and received first-team honors her junior and senior seasons.

“I think that Rebecca can compete for playing time at catcher and that she is great addition to our team because she gives us much needed experience and depth behind the plate,” Kankey said.
