NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State freshman infielder Jeanette Sauceda (Ontario, Calif.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
In the Spartans' five wins last week, Sauceda hit .308 with two doubles, five RBI and three walks. She batted .500 in the final game of the three-game series with Florida A&M, finishing 1-of-2 from the plate with one double and three RBI. She also tallied seven putouts and four assists last week.
On the season, Sauceda is second on the team with a .315 batting average (29-of-92) and has a team-leading 27 RBI. She also has 10 doubles, three home runs, one triple and 14 walks.
Through games of March 30th, Sauceda ranks 62nd nationally in doubles per game with 0.62 and 94th in RBI per game with 0.85.
