NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State baseball team jumped four spots to fourth in the last Division I black college baseball poll, as released by www.blackcollegebaseball.com.
The Spartans finished the 2008 season last Sunday with a loss to Bethune-Cookman in the MEAC Baseball Tournament championship round. At 25-24, NSU achieved its first winning season since 2000 (23-22). NSU also tied last season's team for the Division I single-season win mark, of 25.
The Spartans trail only unanimous No. 1 Bethune-Cookman and two SWAC schools, Southern (No. 2) and Prairie View A&M (No. 3).
