NORFOLK, Va. - NSU basketball returns to Joseph Echols Hall this week with a women's game and a pair of MEAC doubleheaders. In addition to the action on the court, activities surrounding the games will heighten the “Full-Court Excitement” of Spartans' hoops.
The NSU women face North Carolina Central on Thursday at Joseph Echols Hall. Tip-off is 6 p.m. The Norfolk Express 12 and under AAU basketball team will play an exhibition game during halftime.
Magical Solutions Inc. featuring Krendl & Company will provide its specialty of magic, juggling and choreographed routines during Saturday's (Jan. 17) Youth Day basketball doubleheader when NSU hosts Delaware State. Krendl & Company will saw a woman in half at the halftime of the men's game. Tip-off for the women's game is 4 p.m. and the men play at 6 p,m. All youth 17 and under will be admitted free with a paying adult. Youth groups attending the game require one paying adult per 10 kids in a group.
Krendl & Company are making their debut appearance at NSU when they perform during halftime of both the men's and women's games. They are recognized as one of the largest magic production companies on the east coast but they have also performed abroad. Krendl & Company offers a very contemporary performance style blending upbeat music, professionally-choreographed routines, audience participation, comedy, and fast-paced magic routines.
The Booker T. Washington Dance Ensemble will perform during halftime of the NSU vs. Maryland Eastern Shore doubleheader on Monday, Jan. 19. The group's presentation will combine tributes the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King and the president-elect Barack Obama. Tip-off is 6 p.m. for the women's game and the men play at 8 p.m.
