NORFOLK, Va. – Friday's final Spartan spring football scrimmage and Saturday's Norfolk Invitational High School Relays track meet highlight a busy weekend of athletic competition on the NSU campus.
The NSU football team wraps up its spring football practice on Friday with a final intrasquad scrimmage at 7 p.m. at William “Dick” Price Stadium. The scrimmage will last about an hour and consist of various simulated game situations. There is no admission charge.
The Spartan softball team is also in action on Friday, hosting North Carolina Central in a non-conference doubleheader at the NSU Softball Field starting at 1 p.m. The Spartans (15-20) enter the doubleheader on a three-game winning streak. Admission is free.
On Saturday, Dick Price Stadium will host the annual Norfolk Invitational High School Relays track meet. Field events begin at 8:30 a.m. and running events at 11 a.m. More than 40 teams are expected to compete, making this one of the largest fields in meet history. Many of the top track and field programs in the area and on the East Coast will be in attendance. Admission is also free.
The NSU baseball (11-16) team hosts Delaware State in a key three-game MEAC baseball series this weekend. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m., and a single game on Sunday at noon. Admission is also free.
