Speller Places 2nd in 200 Meters at Morgan State

BALTIMORE, Md.
– First-year sophomore Thomas Speller (Chesapeake, Va.) finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 21.50 to highlight the NSU men's track team's performance at the Morgan State Legacy Meet.

Speller's time of 21.50 was his second-fastest of the season. Senior teammate Trayman Hill (Greensville County, Va.) finished seventh in the 200 with a season-best time of 21.66.

The Spartans earned three other top-five finishes at the meet. Junior Brett Dodd (San Antonio, Texas) was fourth in the pole vault (14 feet, 5.25 inches), sophomore Kendrick Richardson (Richmond, Va.) was fifth in the discus (139-9) and junior Jonathan Soimo (Kapsabet, Kenya) placed fifth in the 5,000 meters (15:49.46).

Elsewhere, freshman Keith Nkrumah (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ran a personal-best time of 53.84 seconds, finishing eighth in the 400 hurdles.

The Spartans compete next weekend at the Penn Relays in their final meet before the MEAC Outdoor Championship.
