Speller Shines at Colonial Relays

Day 1 Results

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.
– First-year sophomore sprinter Thomas Speller (Chesapeake, Va.) won the men's 200 meters and also ran the fastest preliminary 100-meter time on Friday at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary at Zable Stadium.

Speller's winning 200 time of 21.36 seconds is a season-best, and the fastest for a Spartan this outdoor season by nearly half a second. Speller also ran NSU's fastest 100-meter time of the year, clocking a 10.73 to pace the field. The 100 final is on Saturday afternoon.

Elsewhere on the track Friday night, freshman Keith Nkrumah (Brooklyn, N.Y.) ran a season-best time of 54.84 seconds to take seventh place in the 400-meter hurdles.

In field events, freshman Theo Duncan (Ashland, Va.) threw a season-best 48 feet, 10 inches (14.88 meters) to finish seventh in the shot put.

Competition continues all day Saturday.
