MEAC Tournament Bracket
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Norfolk State baseball team earned the sixth seed in this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Baseball Championship and will open tournament play against No. 1 seed and host Bethune-Cookman at 10 a.m. Thursday.
All games in the double-elimination tournament will be played at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona Beach.
The Spartans (20-21, 9-9 MEAC) finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the MEAC standings with Maryland Eastern Shore (14-30, 9-9) and North Carolina A&T (17-31, 9-9). Based on conference tiebreaker procedures, UMES earned the No. 4 seed by virtue of finishing a combined 4-2 against the Aggies and Spartans. N.C. A&T took the fifth seed with a 3-3 aggregate record, while NSU fell to sixth with a 2-4 mark against the other two teams.
Bethune-Cookman (29-26, 16-2) is the No. 1 seed and will be seeking its fourth straight title. Delaware State (19-23-1, 10-8) and Florida A&M (22-27, 10-8) tied for second, with DSU taking the No. 2 seed by winning two of three from the Rattlers during the season.
Other first-round games Thursday include DSU vs. N.C. A&T at 2 p.m. and No. 3 FAMU against No. 4 UMES at 6 p.m.
