BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Norfolk State volleyball team dropped its final two matches of the Virginia Tech Tournament on Saturday, falling 3-0 to both the Hokies (25-11, 25-18, 25-15) and the East Carolina Pirates (25-14, 25-21, 25-18) Cassell Coliseum.
Against VT, Ellica Morris (Bedford, Texas) led the Spartans (2-5) with six kills while hitting .308. Nicole Kessner (Blacksburg, Va.) had a match-high 19 assists. Justine Record paced the Hokies with 11 kills.
In the East Carolina match, Angie Clewis (Lancaster, Texas) hit .286 with a team-high seven kills for NSU. Kessner tallied another 19 assists and was named to the all-tournament team for the second consecutive week. The Pirates' (2-4) Stephanie Turner led all players with nine kills.
The Spartans play in the Delaware State Hornet Invitational next weekend. They play LaSalle (3 p.m.) and DSU (7 p.m.) on Friday and Navy (9 a.m.) and Maryland Eastern Shore (3 p.m.) on Saturday.
