Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State football team looks to end its home schedule on a high note as the Spartans host Delaware State this Saturday for Military Appreciation/Family Day. The game will also be Senior Day for 20 members of the Spartan football team. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.

NSU (4-5 overall, 3-4 MEAC) won its second straight game last Saturday, toppling Morgan State 37-25 at Dick Price Stadium. Quarterback Chris Walley had his finest game of the season, passing for 305 yards and four touchdowns while setting a single-game school record for completion percentage (20-for-22, 90.9 percent). He threw touchdown passes to four different receivers, and senior running back DeAngelo Branche topped the 100-yard mark for the fourth time this season, with 23 carries for 109 yards.

The Spartan defense was paced by junior linebacker Corwin Hammond, who had a career-high 13 tackles. Fellow linebacker Onyemechi Anyaugo had eight tackles and two pass breakups.

Delaware State (2-7, 1-5) put a halt to its two-game losing streak last Saturday with a 29-7 nonconference victory over North Carolina Central in Dover, Del. James Rousseau ran 20 times for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Senior quarterback Anthony Glaud completed 16 of 20 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown.

The story of the game, however, was the Hornet defense, which allowed a season-low 134 yards. NCCU managed just 21 yards on the ground. Defensive end Olusegun Ayanbiola had eight tackles, including 3.5 sacks, to spearhead the Hornets' defensive effort.

THE SERIES
