NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State football team looks to end its home schedule on a high note as the Spartans host Delaware State this Saturday for Military Appreciation/Family Day. The game will also be Senior Day for 20 members of the Spartan football team. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Dick Price Stadium.
NSU (4-5 overall, 3-4 MEAC) won its second straight game last Saturday, toppling Morgan State 37-25 at Dick Price Stadium. Quarterback
Chris Walley had his finest game of the season, passing for 305 yards and four touchdowns while setting a single-game school record for completion percentage (20-for-22, 90.9 percent). He threw touchdown passes to four different receivers, and senior running back
DeAngelo Branche topped the 100-yard mark for the fourth time this season, with 23 carries for 109 yards.
The Spartan defense was paced by junior linebacker
Corwin Hammond, who had a career-high 13 tackles. Fellow linebacker
Onyemechi Anyaugo had eight tackles and two pass breakups.
Delaware State (2-7, 1-5) put a halt to its two-game losing streak last Saturday with a 29-7 nonconference victory over North Carolina Central in Dover, Del. James Rousseau ran 20 times for 86 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Senior quarterback Anthony Glaud completed 16 of 20 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown.
The story of the game, however, was the Hornet defense, which allowed a season-low 134 yards. NCCU managed just 21 yards on the ground. Defensive end Olusegun Ayanbiola had eight tackles, including 3.5 sacks, to spearhead the Hornets' defensive effort.

THE SERIES
• This will be the 18th all-time meeting between NSU and Delaware State. The Hornets lead the series, 13-4.
• NSU notched a come-from-behind 21-16 win over DSU last year in Dover, snapping the Hornets' six-game winning streak over NSU.
• In the last three meetings, the winning team has come from at least 16 points down to win.
QUICK HITS
• The Spartans need to win out to achieve a winning record of 6-5. If they can accomplish that, it would mark their first-ever back-to-back winning seasons in the Division I era.
• The four-year members of the 20-man Spartan senior class have contributed to 24 wins since 2007,
matching last year's class for the most wins by a senior class in the Division I era. With two more wins,
this year's seniors would have 26, the most by a senior class since the 1985 group had 27.
• NSU clinched its fi fth straight season with a winning home record last Saturday. The Spartans are 3-1 at Dick Price Stadium this year.
