Spartans Hit Road, Open MEAC Slate at A&T

Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk State opens MEAC play looking to end a four-game losing streak this Saturday as the Spartans travel to North Carolina A&T for a 4 p.m. game at Corbett Sports Center. 

NSU lost its fourth straight on Tuesday as Iona rallied from a six-point second-half defi cit to hand the Spartans their first home loss of the year, 73-64. Kyle O'Quinn and Marcos Tamares scored 15 points apiece to lead NSU, with Rob Hampton adding 14.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, the Aggies come into their MEAC opener riding a three-game winning streak after an 82-70 win over intra-city rival UNC Greensboro on Tuesday night. The Aggies got 20 points and 14 rebounds from Thomas Coleman and 18 points from Nic Simpson. N.C. A&T shot 51 percent from the floor.

SERIES NOTES
NSU leads the all-time series with the Aggies, 19-18. The teams have split their regular-season meetings in the last three years. Last season, both games went down to the wire. A&T pulled out a 93-84 overtime win in Norfolk on Dec. 5. The Spartans grabbed a last-second 67-66 win over A&T on March 4 in Greensboro, N.C.
