NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State women's basketball team hosts Winston-Salem State (2-23) at 4 p.m. on Saturday and South Carolina State (8-16, 3-9 MEAC) at 4 p.m. on Monday.
The Spartans (3-18, 0-12 MEAC), who play their final home game of the season on Monday, dropped their seventh consecutive game last Monday with a 71-41 loss at Howard. Marian Brooks (Woodbridge, Va.) and Whitney Long (Raleigh, N.C.) each had 10 points, while Batavia Owens (Norfolk, Va.) grabbed 11 rebounds. NSU also fell to Hampton on Saturday, losing 68-47 at the HU Convocation Center. Raychele Payne (Newport News, Va.) led the Spartans in that contest with 16 points and a team-high-tying six rebounds.
The Spartans' last win this season came over Winston-Salem State on Jan. 23 when Owens recorded game- and career-highs of 22 points and 20 rebounds. She was 10-of-15 from the field and 2-for-4 from the charity stripe.
