Spartan Women Travel to Morgan State, Coppin State This Weekend

Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk State women's basketball team plays at Morgan State and Coppin State this weekend. The Spartans take on the Lady Bears at 2 p.m. on Saturday and play the Lady Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. 

NSU (4-19, 0-13 MEAC) split its games this past weekend, defeating Winston-Salem State 72-58 on Saturday and falling 63-51 to South Carolina State on Monday. Raychele Payne (Newport News, Va.) scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, in the win over WSSU. Genor Dalton (Martinsville, Va.) had her first career double-double with 17 points and a career-best 12 rebounds, while Whitney Long (Raleigh, N.C.) came off the bench to score 14 points.

In the loss to SCSU, Long led NSU with 16 points, while Dalton had 12 and Batavia Owens (Norfolk, Va.) had 10. Dalton and Owens led all players with eight rebounds each.

On the season, Long leads NSU in scoring with 10.6 points per game. Owens is the team's top rebounder with 5.8 grabs per game.
