NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University announced Tuesday that MF&B Marine, LLC will be the lead tournament sponsor for the University's second annual Baseball Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament.
“We are very excited about this partnership between MF&B and NSU,” NSU baseball coach Claudell Clark said. “Having a quality sponsor like MF&B will enable us to make a solid impression on the Hampton Roads Community, raise funds for the baseball building fund and help to significantly enhance the program for the upcoming year.”
The golf tournament is Friday, Sept. 3 at Bide-A-Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth, Va., as part of the 2010 Baseball Alumni Weekend. The Florida Best Ball-style golf tournament begins with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $90 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, beverages, and an awards dinner. The deadline to register is Friday, Aug. 27. To register, download the entry form from www.nsuspartans.com or call head coach Claudell Clark (757-676-3082) or Joyce Gregg (757-468-4147).
The alumni game on Sept. 4 will match former Spartan players against former Virginia State University players. First pitch will be thrown at noon at Marty L. Miller Field. The cost is $45, which covers membership for the NSU Baseball Booster Club for the 2010-11 school year. A cookout for all participating players and families will be held immediately after the game.
