Spartans Begin 4-Game Road Swing at Illinois State

Game Notes

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State men's basketball team begins a four-game road swing, three of them on the same trip, with a 5 p.m. (ET) tip-off at Illinois State on Sunday.

The Spartans (7-4) have won three of their first four December games following a 73-62 victory over Long Island on Wednesday in Norfolk. Kyle O'Quinn had game highs of 22 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks for the Spartans.

Illinois State (6-3) was also victorious in its last game, a 78-73 win at Morehead State on Dec. 7. Jackie Carmichael, one of three Redbirds who average double figures, had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

The teams have met just once previously, with ISU earning a 79-66 win over NSU in a first-round game of the Basketball Travelers Classic in November 2009.

Following ISU, NSU treks to Toledo for its first-ever matchup at UT on Tuesday, prior to a Friday game at St. Francis (N.Y.).
