NORFOLK, Va.
– Southern Miss swept the Norfolk State women's tennis team by a 7-0 score Thursday afternoon at Old Dominion's Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

The Golden Eagles (5-7) won all six singles matches in straight sets and also won all three doubles matches to drop NSU to 2-10 on the season.

Senior Jennifer Astbury forced a first-set tiebreaker against Asa Bengtson at No. 1 singles, but Bengtson earned an 8-1 victory in the tiebreaker to win the first set, 7-6. Bengtson then won the second set, 6-2.

Freshman Gabriella Jonsson lost by a 6-3, 6-1 margin to Stephanie Dellocono at the No. 2 singles slot, while junior Naeemah Brooks fell by a 6-4, 6-4 score to Moorea Williams at the third singles spot.

In the other three matches, Zoe Lee knocked off senior Chenge Tsapayi, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 4 singles, Shannon Rogers swept sophomore Rebecca Graff at No. 5, 6-1, 6-0, and Frances Askew downed freshman Maryna Kariuk, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 6 slot.
