NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State sophomore pitcher Jordan Egan (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named the MEAC Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced.
Egan, a right hander, earned the save in NSU's 4-2 win over Penn State on Sunday by pitching three hitless, scoreless innings. He fanned four, helping the Spartans finish off their first win over a Big Ten team since topping PSU in 1996. Egan allowed just one baserunner, that coming on a hit batter.
This season, Egan is 1-0 with a team-leading 2.25 ERA in four appearances, three of them starts. He has allowed just 12 hits while striking out 21 batters in 16 innings.
Egan and the Spartans host Penn for a pair of doubleheaders this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's games begin at 1 p.m., and Sunday's begin at noon.
