NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State freshman pitcher Justin Bhatti was named the MEAC Baseball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced.

Bhatti, a right hander, went 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA in two appearances for the Spartans last week. After pitching three scoreless innings in relief at VCU last Wednesday, Bhatti tossed 6.2 solid innings in Sunday's series-clinching win over Florida A&M. Bhatti, who didn't allow a run until the seventh, gave up seven hits and three runs while striking out a season-high six batters against the Rattlers, earning his second victory of the season. He walked just two hitters against FAMU.

This is Bhatti's first time earning a MEAC weekly award.
