NSU Welcomes Texas Southern to Echols Hall on Monday

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State women's basketball team will host Texas Southern on Monday at 6 p.m. at Joseph Echols Hall.    This is the last of three straight home games for NSU before they hit the road for six consecutive games.

Last Time Out: NSU (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season against USC Upstate, 71-64, on Thursday at Joseph Echols Hall.  Rae Corbo led NSU with 15 points while Quineshia Leonard had her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

All-Time Series: NSU leads the series against Texas Southern, 1-0.  Last year NSU defeated Texas Southern, 80-58.  Rae Corbo led all scorers with 26 points.

About Texas Southern: Texas Southern (0-2) is coming off of a 59-42 loss against McNeese State.  Janelle McQueen was the only Tiger to score in double figures with 14 points.

Leonard On a Roll: Quineshia Leonard had 14 points and 11 rebounds against USC Upstate on Nov. 15, earning her third career and second-straight double-double of the season.

Defensive Minded: Rachel Gordon tallied 12 rebounds in the Spartans 71-64 loss to USC Upstate on Nov. 15.  Gordon finished 16th in the nation and first in the league in rebounding last season.

Winning the Rebounding Battle:  NSU outrebounded USC Upstate, 49-40, on Nov. 15, with Gordon leading the way with 12 rebounds and Leonard adding 11 rebounds for the Spartans.

Cracking the top 10: Recca Trice is in seventh place all-time in the NSU record book for career assists. Her 345 career helpers now puts her 12 away from tying Kiersten Portlock for sixth all time.
