NSU Announces 2012-2013 Women’s Basketball Schedule

2012-13 NSU Women's Basketball Schedule

NORFOLK, Va.
– Head coach Debra Clark and the Norfolk State women's basketball team have released the 2012-13 schedule.  The Spartans will open the season with a trio of home games, including the season opener on Nov. 9 vs. the University of Pennsylvania at Joseph Echols Hall.  NSU will also host USC-Upstate on Nov. 15 and Texas Southern on Nov. 19.

The Spartans will travel to Greenville, N.C., Nov. 24-25 for the East Carolina University Pirate Invitational Thanksgiving Tournament, where they will play East Carolina and Appalachian State.

NSU opens up MEAC play Dec. 1 at Savannah State and Dec. 3 at South Carolina State before hitting the road for a pair of nonconference games against Radford on Dec. 13 and UNC-Greensboro on Dec. 15.

The Spartans return to Joseph Echols Hall on Dec. 19 to play Chowan and then hit the road again as they head to Virginia for the Cavalier Classic on December 28-29.

“I'm very excited about this year's schedule.  It's great to play our first three games at home. We look forward to participating in two tournaments this season,” said Clark.  “Overall, I feel our competitive non-conference schedule will prepare us well for our challenging games in the MEAC.”

The Spartans will face their last non-conference opponent of the season on Jan. 3 as they travel to Hempstead, N.Y., to take on Hofstra.

NSU resumes MEAC play on the road at Maryland Eastern Shore on Jan. 12 and at Howard on Jan. 14.  The Spartans will finish out the month of January with three home games as they welcome Coppin State on Jan. 19, Morgan State on Jan. 21, and Hampton on Jan. 26.

Norfolk State will travel to Coppin State on Feb. 2 and Morgan State on Feb. 4 before a pair of home games against Delaware State on Feb. 9 and Maryland Eastern Shore on Feb. 11.  NSU will play two final road games as they visit Hampton on Feb. 18 and Delaware State on Feb. 23.

The Spartans will close out the regular season with three home games as they play Bethune-Cookman (March 2), Florida A&M (March 4), and North Carolina A&T (March 7).

The 2013 MEAC Tournament will be held March 11-16 at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Va.
