Last Time Against Wofford: A very physical game turned into a defensive struggle that fell in favor of Wofford as the Terriers defeated the Norfolk State women's basketball team, 50-45, on Nov. 19, 2011 at Benjamin Johnson Arena in Spartanburg, S.C.
In a game that saw a lot of physical contact but not many fouls called, the Terriers held the Spartans at bay, never getting a lead of more than 10 but never letting NSU get on top after the opening minute of play.
The Spartans shot just 28.0 percent for the game and was led by Rae Corbo with 10 points. Wofford fared better, hitting 41.7 percent for the game, although the Spartans converted one more field goal than the Terriers thanks to 25 offensive boards. Wofford sank 8-of-13 from the free throw line, while NSU sank just 1-of-4 attempts.
Recca Trice had nine points, tied her career high with seven steals and also added four assists, while the duo of Rachel Gordon and Whitney Long each added eight points on the afternoon. Gordon also tallied a team-high 10 rebounds for the Spartans, who held a 45-40 advantage on the boards.
Scoring Leaders: Rae Corbo leads NSU in scoring averaging 17.0 points per game followed by Ebony Brown, who is averaging 12.3 points per game.
Moving Up the Charts: Rachel Gordon ranks 10th all-time in career rebounding at NSU. She needs nine more rebounds to move into ninth place.
MEAC Leaderboard: As a team NSU currently ranks in the top 5 in 12 different categories in the MEAC, while NSU players rank in the top 5 in seven different categories, including Rae Corbo, who leads the league in free-throw percentage at 94.4 percent.
Glad to be Home: NSU will play several home games this season as 13 different opponents will come to Joseph Echols Hall this year.
