NORFOLK, Va. – Freshman forward Rashid Gaston was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week, while junior center Brandon Goode earned co-Defensive Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

Gaston, a native of Warren, Ohio, had a career-high 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting with nine rebounds in a 62-59 victory at Hampton on Feb. 18. He finished the week with 19 points, 12 rebounds and one assist.

Goode, who hails from Bronx, N.Y., recorded eight blocks in two games, highlighted by a career-high five at Hampton. He tallied 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting with 14 rebounds and one steal over the two games, which also included a 60-56 win at Delaware State on Saturday.

Goode shared the award with Savannah State's Arnold Louis. It marks Goode's second weekly award of the season after earning Player of the Week honors in the first week of the season. Gaston picked up the rookie of the week award for the third time this year.

NSU closes out the regular season with three games at home, beginning with Bethune-Cookman Saturday at 6 p.m. at Joseph Echols Hall.
