NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State women's tennis team will host Randolph-Macon on Saturday at the NSU Tennis Complex. Please note that the start time for the match against R-MC has been changed to 1:30 p.m.
Saturday's match is also designated as Senior Day and NSU will honor senior Rebecca Graff and junior Maryna Kariuk prior to the start of the match for their accomplishments throughout their career at NSU.
A native of Båstad, Sweden, this year Graff has tallied a 7-3 record in singles play as well as a 4-3 doubles mark. As a junior, she was named to the MEAC All-Academic Team. She also earned a spot on the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State Team and was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete during her sophomore season.
Kariuk is a native of Kharkiv, Ukraine, and is majoring in mass communications. She is 3-5 in singles competition. As a sophomore, Kariuk was named to the MEAC All-Academic Team. She is also an active member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society
The Spartans (9-8) suffered a 4-0 loss to Towson on Sunday at the NSU Tennis Complex. Freshman Andrea Macchiavello and sophomore Mafalda Lhorca posted the only win for NSU when they defeated Moriah Burke and Lorena Ferrer, 8-5, in match one of the doubles competition.
R-MC (8-11) is coming off of an 8-1 win over Sweet Briar on Wednesday afternoon in Ashland, Va.
Also, the NSU tennis program will host a children's clinic prior to the match against Randolph-Macon. The clinic is open to the community from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. Admission is free.
